Metronidazole 2 gms: is the standard; but, it is not wise to blindly and empirically self-diagnose a "highly possible case of trichomoniasis" and even less wise to treat oneself blindly and empirically, Yet, if one is not allergic to metronidazole, does not drink liquor and can manage to obtain 2 gms of this antibiotic (taken by mouth, once) the risks are minimal and the benefits real, if the diagnosis is correct.

State run programs: Many cities have city run health departments ie los Angeles county health department. They can screen patients and treat for stds at no cost. California also has a program called family pact which will test trich for free.maybe your state had a similar program
