Yes and no: first step is for you to have the ultrasound of your neck, to determine if there is a partial blockage of the carotid arteries. Generally if you have less 50% blockage (stenosis), you do Not need surgery! Just need to continue to monitor and control your cholesterol to prevent further blockage. For your abdomen, the ultrasound will help determine if you have an "abdominal aortic aneurysm."
