Numbness: You probably have diabetic neuropathy I would see your physician and he will advise you on this

Neuropathy: You had transient symptoms, probably not related to magnesium nor nerve damage from the diabetes. Could be from compression or enviromental factors. But diabetes is the major predisposing risk factor for neuropathy. If symptoms recurs or gets progressively worse, consult with Neurologist. Longer the duration of diabetes and higher the blood sugar are important factors in diabetic neuropathy.
