Pregnant : It is possible to become pregnant with an IUD, however the incidence is low. I suggest if you really need to know by the 5 dollar pregnancy kit. If you want even more specific get a blood test called quantitative beta HCG level. You can obtain this at your primary care office.

Rare: It is not impossible, occasionally IUDs do fail, but only less than 1% of the time. If you feel that you may be pregnant then definitely take a pregnancy test. Otherwise if your symptoms persist see your doctor for an exam and testing.
