A member asked:

My finger jammed today and its painful to touch mainly in the medial and proximal. should i wait it out or head to the doctor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Try to wait it out: As long as you did not dislocate the finger (which would have showed an obvious deformity) or fracture it, your finger will get better on its own with applying ice and taking antiinflammatories like Motrin/Advil/Aleve to help decrease swelling and relieve pain. If the swelling gets worse along with increased pain and bruising, then it would be appropriate to see the doctor. Hope you feel better!!
