Tongue: Most commonly this can be related to some type of food allergy. Have your PCP take a look at them.

Probably normal: Everyone has 10-14 large papillae (circumvallate papillae) on the far back of the tongue. They can be hard to see, and when first noticed it is easy to believe they have just appeared or enlarged. Google "circumvallate papillae photos" and compare with what you have noticed. If that's not it or if in doubt, ask your doc or or dentist. Almost certainly this is nothing serious or harmful.
