A member asked:

Papillae in front of tongue have been sore and inflamed off and on. cause?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

WheresThatTongueBeen: The tongue is a very sensitive organ(as I'm sure you discovered on one of your past dates). The papillae are composed of taste buds, some lymphatic tissue and lots of nerves. The tongue can also be sensitive to certain foods and other irritants and may also be a sign of illness elsewhere. So first survey your diet and stop eating what may cause the pain; medications/ herbs? there's an answer in there
