Yes: Yes, that certainly could be. You could also have external otitis.

See ENT first: Not all pain in the ear and face is because of TMJ disorder. There are other causes: ear wax build up, middle ear infection, tooth infection, throat infection, and atypical facial pain. it is important to see an ENT first if you are concerned or uncertain about your ear pain.
