Ear wax: Odor likely from built up ear wax and may indicate infection (apparently without inflammation though). If there is no injury, based on the recent exam, then recommend irrigating/cleaning to see if things improve. Drug store has otc cleaning solutions for this purpose: usually a 2-step process. Q-tips can make it worse by pushing wax in. Earbuds are a common exacerbating factor. Good luck!

Otitis externa: This could be due to some impacted cerumen up against the ear drum, or there could be an infection of the external ear canal that could require antibacterial, antiyeast, corticosteroid ear drops. An otolaryngologist is best qualified to evaluate and treat you.
