Local Anesthesia: There is virtually no risk when a competent dentist administers local anesthesia as long as you are not allergic to the anesthesia and in over 40 years of dental practice I still have yet to see a patient who is truly allergic to local anesthesia. The area will be numb from about 15 minutes to 4 hours depending upon the specific anesthesia used and your individual metabolism. Discuss with your DDS

2 to 4 hours: and some types like articaine can last up to 7-8 hours. Usually local infiltration with common complications: paresthesia, allergic reaction and tissue injury. Ask your dentist for more information before the procedure.
