I have had upper gi , ultra sound, pain upper left side. lots of indigestion, clearing throat and cough. doctor found hitnal hernia and maybe a nerve ?

Hiatal hernia: Sx u are describing sound like hiatal hernia wth reflux.This is when portion of stomach pooches thru the hole in diaphragm where your esophagus would normally be. When this happens food and stomach acid can wash up the esophagus and go into the lungs, esp when lying down. This causes coughing, choking and of course indigestion. Best to eat small meals and not to eat late at nite,ask MDfor antacid.
