Unclear: Hard to say, but with most bacterial infections antibiotics begin working quickly and within 24-48 hours you will be feeling some improvement. If you are having dramatic throat swelling that is giving you difficulty breathing, you may need a course of steroids as well to reduce the inflammation. If your breathing is affected call your doctor and let them know.
