Quad pain: With the history of running, it most likely would be a muscle strain. He can try icing the leg after running and taking it easy for a week or so. He could also try espon salts or taking oral magnesium to relax the muscle. The best form of magnesium when someone is exercising is magnesium malate as this reduces the lactic acid build up in the muscle that forms and causes muscle soreness.
