Read protocols: Trials are highly controlled to monitor for potential side effect of medications and interactions with other drugs as well as cure. It is legal to test as you are a voluntary participant in a study. A positive test would most likely result in your dismissal from the trial as you would have ongoing risk of infection with Hep B/C and HIV skewing the results of the trial and efficacy data.
