Hematometra: Blood inside the cavity will show up on sonogram. This can be verified by repeating the sonogram at a different time in the next menstrual cycle. If your doctor is concerned an endometrial biopsy can be done to drain the fluid and sample the tissue. If the doctor is more concerned a specialized sonogram called a sonohystogram or hysteroscopy can be performed. Ask doc if any of these are warranted
