It can be: Some of the medications that we use to induce anesthesia can cause muscle soreness after an operation. If the operation is long then you cannot move like you normally do while asleep to relieve pressure and this can make you sore.

Muscular soreness: Generalized muscular soreness after a general anesthetic can be caused by the use of succinylcholine which is a depolarizing muscle relaxant causing your muscles to contract leading to muscle soreness afterwards.
