Medicated filling: Sometimes we can avoid the need for RCT with a sedative filling. However, if the pulp is irreversibly damaged, you will either need to have the tooth extracted or RCT performed. The sedative filling may alleviate the pain, but not necessarily the need for RCT. Ask your own dentist for clarification.

Yes: Your endodontist may feel that the tooth can heal with a medicated temporary. It would be terrific if you do not need the root canal therapy.

Very common: This can prevent the nerve pain that would make a root canal necessary.
