Common: If there is. An infection or a very difficult tooth to treat then it can take more than one to do a root canal. Thee endodontist will then refer you back to your general dentist to restore the tooth.

A crown is placed almost as a standard of care on molar teeth in the us., after root canal due to extensive loss of tooth structure, and to protect tooth as root canal treated teeth can be more brittle after procedure. Be sure to follow up and have crown placed to protect tooth for many years of use.
