Alzheimer's : This will depend largely on advanced directives, a set of instructions provided by the patient as of what to do (or not to do) when no longer able to decide for himself. Other factors like age, cardiac diseases, emphysema, hypertension, diabetes may play a role. Range could be anywhere from few days to 1-2 years

Hard to tell: Sometimes a person with very advanced alzheimer's disease may live for several years because alzheimer's disease does not cause death by itself. Death is usually caused by a complication (e.g., pneumonia) and some people do not develop it.
