Possibilities: Survival of patients with Alzheimer’s disease is estimated at 7-10 years and if your father has been fighting this condition for more than 6-7 years it might be that he entered late stages. Alternatively a variety of medical conditions from urinary tract infections to viral infections may cause sudden decline and sometimes death as dehydration happens fast. Do discuss his symptoms with his doc.
