Get her evaluated: You did not indicate your aunt's age or presence of any other medical problems. Your aunt seems to have changes in her mental status and should be evaluated soon. Other conditions including complications from medications and other medical conditions can be causing her confusion and forgetfulness. The only way to find out is to have her evaluated.

Early dementia.: If this is only defect noted and she is elderly -sounds like early dementia probably alzheimers. Should probably check vit B12 and TSH to be safe. Observe carefully in novel situations and in complex tasks such as paying bills, planning a meal, drawing MAP or clock face. I suspect you might find she has other defects as well. Several on-line tools. Mini-cog. Folstein mmse and slums exam.
