Unusual: A very enlarged thyroid (goiter) can cause choking symptoms. Sometimes smaller growths can cause difficulty swallowing and occassionally a feeling like something is getting caught. Most big goiters show an obvious swelling in the neck, but sometimes a goiter will grow backwards or toward the chest and may not look so obvious. Have a doctor check it out.

Maybe goiter: There are many causes of choking and an enlarged thyroid (goiter) is one possibility. That is a serious symptom and you should see a physician asap for a complete evaluation.
