Thyroid: I don't know about inflamed thyroid but hyperthyroidism can cause many symptoms.
If you have been so diagnosed you are probably not getting enough antithyroid medication.
Please have your doctor refer you to a thyroid surgeon for evaluation and advice.

Yes: Hyperthyroidism can result from inflammation of the thyroid (subacute thyroiditis). There will be pain and swelling of the thyroid that can feel like a sore throat, and cause trouble swallowing. If the thyroid is large enough, you can also have a choking sensation. Treatment for this condition is different than the usual treatment for an overactive thyroid.
