Yes & no: The research on hypnosis, hundreds of studies in the 2000s alone, suggests it is effective for some conditions such as chronic & surgery pain, anxiety, bodily/somatic symp, headaches, smoking, but less so with depression. Having a doc assess the source of your preoccupying neg thoughts is key to finding the right tx. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is likely going to be key, hypnosis can be added.
