Carpal Tunnel?: This may be nerve damage and the most likely cause would be carpal tunnel. I would talk to a primary care doctor or hand surgeon about the symptoms. If not carpal tunnel you may have a vitamin deficiency and that could be checked as well.

Get it checked: By balls of the hand you mean knuckes,it may be due to inflamation of the metcarpopharal joints. Most common cause of the pain is Arthitis but there may be other causes like Gout and repetitive trauma which you deny I will suggest you consult your Primary Care Doctor to find the cause and appropriate treatment
