No: Sometimes medications can irritate the throat (especially some powder forms of medications) but generally pills and liquids do not, unless a pill gets "stuck" when swallowing it. Best to "chase" it with a good 8-10 ounces of water to make sure it goes down. Hope this was helpful. Dr R
