Tooth abscess: It would be difficult for you to determine if you absolutely had a dental abscess with the symptoms you described. It could just be inflammation. Either way you should see a dentist to determine the cause and the proper treatment. All the best.

DDS: You need a dental exam ASAP. If it's in the back of the mouth, likely a wisdom tooth. For best results with wisdom teeth, make sure you are evaluated and treated by a board certified oral & maxillofacial surgeon.
