A member asked:

Are epileptic fits caused by excessive neurological signals in the brain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Interesting question: Yes, epileptic fits or seizures are caused by unregulated, excessive electrical discharges from the surface of the brain. It is similar to signaling, but these signals are not really purposeful. It is believed these events are so much driven by chemical changes of signaling, but electrical ones.
