Age?: The usual parameter is over 6 times a year for removal. Also you are at an age where tonsils should be involuting. Practice good oral hygiene and document positive strep screens and get an opinion from your doctor. All the best.

Mgt/workup: You may have reservoirs of infection and/or a resistant strain. Continue to discuss medical options with your PCP and ENT physician. A culture that shows the resistance pattern of the strep is helpful in selection of the appropriate antibiotic.
