Go back to the surgeon who did the procedure for a good examination of your throat.

Hello, a re-examination of the oropharynx is important but I’d say the same of the entire upper airway. A flexible endoscopic examination will see if there is drainage passing over this sensitive area or maybe reflux working it’s way up into the area where surgery was performed. An imaging study may also be recommended. Good luck.

Absence of tonsils does not remove your risk of strep throat infections, it just reduces the intensity of such infections. If you are not seeking out a strep test for these events, you should, as you can carry this infection to those around you that are at risk.
