Squats will help: to burn calories because you incorporate a lot of large muscles when performing a squat! If you incorporate this exercise without increasing your caloric intake then you should notice lower body fat and more toned legs, and your thighs should not get wider/bigger unless you are squatting with real heavy weights. If you stick to lighter wt, and just do more reps you are less likely to get big!
