I've had severe toothache for a week now and the pain is now going into my ears and around my jaw. i am petrified of dentists am i able to be sedated?

Yes: Sedated for the procedure, not the examination. See a dentist who does sedation dentistry, if he feels the tooth can be saved, he can offer oral sedation (pill). If the tooth has to be extracted, you can be put to sleep by an oral surgeon.
