Dry Socket?: Very possible. Please see the surgeon who extracted the tooth for follow up care.

"Classic" dry socket: Sorry about your pain. A dry socket typically causes a sharp increase in pain commencing 3–5 days. Also the smell and taste are pretty horrible. See your surgeon for dry socket treatment. Good luck.
