Good Idea: All the 8 SSRI medications on the market should work well for social phobia even though they are not approved for it. Discuss it with your doctor.

Honesty: Not sure if you're referring to your primary care doc or a psychiatrist. Be as honest as possible with your doctors. We're here to help and not to judge. Anxiety is commonly seen by primary care docs as well as psychiatrists. Try getting on board with your doc and ask about starting Lexapro (escitalopram). Let your doc get to know you better.
