A member asked:

What are the tests done for identification of cause of uti except urinalysis and cystoscopy?

Urine culture: A urinalysis is routinely done and urine culture can be done as well. The culture will identify the cause of the infection and also indicate which antibiotics would be effective. A cystoscopy is not routinely done, unless someone has recurrent infection, persistent blood in the urine or other symptoms.

UTI: The most important test would be a culture so the involved bacteria is identified. Knowing its sensitivity will allow for the proper antibiotics to be used.
