A member asked:

When should a young child go to er for vomiting and diarrhea?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dehydration: Less than 5 wet diapers in 24 hours in a baby or if not urinating at all in 12 hours in an older child is suggestive of dehydration, which children do not tolerate well. If oral rehydration with an electrolyte solution does not increase urination frequency shortly, emergent evaluation by you physician or an emergency facility is in order.
