Less Likely: Vomiting and diarrhea from Salmonella infection usually causes cramping abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and watery loose stools. Salmonella will occasionally cause bloody stools. Vomiting and diarrhea can occur from viruses as well as food-borne pathogens in addition to bacterial infections. Antibiotics are discouraged due to prolonging the infection. Plenty of fluids should be encouraged.
