HIDA Scan: The best starting test for the gallbladder. After that, a HIDA scan with ejection fraction is the test to get done especially if you are just having pain and the LFTs do not become elevated. LFTs will rise if you have gallstones that travel into the bile duct.

U/S: Ultrasound is the best test to examine the gall bladder. It can be used to identify gallstones, the size of the common bile duct, gallbladder wall inflammation and masses.
