MRCP: Both the MRCP and MRI abdominal with contrast are magnetic imaging tests. The MRCP focuses all of the imaging on the bile ducts, liver and pancreas, whereas the MRI abdominal scans the full abdomen. They can be done at the same time. The ERCP allows the doctor to perform a treatment as well as diagnose, such as remove a stone that is blocking the bile duct or dilate a narrowed duct. I
