A member asked:

Mild abdominal pain, ultrasound suggested a stone in cbd. no jaundice and lfts normal. getting ercp soon. just want to know, since there is no jaundice and only mild abdominal pain, does it mean the obstruction is not causing harm to the liver yet?

How does any test apply to me? To answer that it should be understood that test results are taken into account with the things the patients, say, the examination, lab tests, and all other diagnostic tests. So focusing on one portion of a test alone often does not provide an understanding of the diagnosis. This requires an expert in personal opinion since more information is needed.

Lack of jaundice suggests that the bile duct is still partly patent and there is no back up of bile in the liver. The non-obstructing stone is not causing any damage to the liver.
