I am using rifaximin for ibs. i will use it for 2 weeks....550mg tid. should i undergo sigmoidoscopy for confirmation of ibs?

No: IRRITABLE bowel syndrome - should not be treated with rifaximine. And you can't see it on sigmoidoscopy. It is a diagnosis of exclusion ( means nothing else was found). If you mean INFLAMMATORY bowel disease then colonoscopy may help to provide diagnosis. Then anti inflammatory drugs are needed, keeping rifaximine type rugs for acute episodes only.
