A member asked:

How many days after a possible exposure to syphillis does it take to be tested accurately? if it's too early to test should i start on an antibiotic?

Dr. James Lin answered

Here are some ...: What you reported suggests you haven't suffered from any form of the clinical disease of syphilis. Your desire for being tested seems out of "fear" and the time of exposure is unclear.. But the incubation period of syphilis is about 10-90 days so inexpensive indirect serologic test may be used in 6-12 weeks after suspected time of exposure; you're still safe in its early stage.
