A member asked:

I believe a massage therapist popped a vein on the inside of my thumb and index fingers. they look bruised and are very painful. is it cause for concern? any way to speed up the recovery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Injury: For traumatic bleeding, rest the hand, applying cold intermittently for 48 hours and then switching to heat will help absorb blood products. NSAIDS like ibuprofen reduce inflammation. However if pain and/or swelling persist, consult a hand surgeon for evaluation and treatment.
