A member asked:

I am a health worrier so worry a lot i have cancer ! if i had a blood test and it was all normal.. can i assume i'm healthy like my doctor says?

Yes: Most cancers arise in older patients. It takes 3 separate gene hits to initiate the cancer process unless there is familial history. Since early onset malignancy is asymptomatic only screening tests are of value and not PET/CAT searching for problems. Routine chest, colonoscopy, mammography are of no value. On occasion a Pap proves useful but unless symptoms are present your doctor is correct.
