Ask rheumatologist: I presume that you are seeing a rheumatologist whom you need to consult to examine this lump. It may be as simple as bursitis or a lymph node. Another potential cause may be the nodules associated with rheumatoid arthritis (another autoimmune disease). Nothing beats a direct exam.
