Specializes in Internal Medicine

Lung doc...: you should see a lung doctor who specializes in sleep medicine. This doctor will be able to review your sleep study and figure out the diagnosis and how best to treat it! Good luck!!!

Hypoventilation: Hi giulia, if you mean alveolar 'hypo'ventilation, then basically, you dont move enough air in and out of your lungs while you sleep. This can be caused by obesity, opiate drugs, neuromuscular problems and COPD. Sleep medicine doctors usually manage the treatment. However, a pulmonologist or neurologist certified in sleep medicine can as well. Treatment can be a bipap machine to wear at night.
