Need more info: First of all, how did you end up with the rib fx? A fight, motor vehicle accident, a fall? If an MVA or a fall, I am assuming that you had some CT scan done of all areas that were hurting. It is possible to have sustained fx in other places such as Cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. If all other imaging is normal, then you have a concomitant back sprain or disc injury from same incident.

Rib fractures: Very much so... It typically takes 3-6months to get over those, and the rib attachments to the spine are often sore in addition to the fractures themselves... Best of luck!
