i take 1 zyrtec in the morning and 2 benadryl (diphenhydramine) at bedtime. is that to much antihistmine?

Yes: First depends on the dose and age but yes, zyrtec is a 24 hour medication and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is a 6-8 hour med. Routinely this should not be ongoing. If symptoms are persistent look into another cause.
