I took a zyrtec about 12 hrs ago and was wondering if it was ok to take one benadryl (diphenhydramine)?

Yes.: There should not be any significant interaction although both meds are in the same class.

Yes: it is not harmful to take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) after Zyrtec- both medications are antihistamines and generally you would not need to take both of them Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is a stronger antihistamine and may help with symptoms unresolved by Zyrtec - it often has more sedation as side effect than Zyrtec
