Be more specific: By "staph infection" you are mostly likely describing a skin infection such as cellulitis and abscess. While amoxicillin may work it is best to discuss this with your doctor as a different form of antibotic may be more appropriate depending on various factors. An incision and drainage may also be indicated. Diabetics should be extra vigilant in these circumstance.
